We often have a discussion at work about why it is that people make such absurd life choices, and what it must be like to think like these people.

Well, we can be grateful the pool didn't blow off and kill the kids, right?

Seriously. what the f**k.
“During the course of the investigation it was learned that Yeager drove into town to inflate the pool at a friends’ house and had her two juvenile daughters ride inside of the empty pool to hold it down on their drive home,”
Why not go to the friends house and borrow the inflation device?
Why would you take the pool to someones house, inflate it and then drive it home?
If you were going to inflate it and driver it home, why would you not secure it to the vehicle with rope or straps?
Why would you use your kids as a method of holding down the pool?
Why would the above even come into your head?
Why would you even think the above was a good idea?
Why would you even execute the above idea?
Was there even a moment from thinking it to being caught that your mind even thought for a moment it was a bad idea?
.
.
Part of me is actually slightly impressed that she didn’t try filling it with water to hold it down.

*shakes head* I’m trying to imagine a scenario where
a
reasonable
per
son would be tempted to even try something like this...
Maaaaybe , if she was moving the pool just a few houses down a residential street, and was driving super-slowly, and if there was more than just the weight of the kids helping to restrain the cargo, and if the “kids” were older than elementary school, mature enough to be super-careful about the whole thing...
I doubt it.

Seriously, even at pretty low speeds it would be very easy for the air to get under the pool enough to lift it and the two kids. Maybe she should have filled it with water as well?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are stupider than that.

And on top of all that, someone else helped them do it and never said a thing!

Also true.
It really makes you wonder how these people got to such an age without winning a Darwi n Award.
What did they do or learn at school, because in the U.S. don’t you have to graduate highschool?
There are so many questions I want to ask people like this, but I fear I’d end up in a bar somewhere trying to drink all the stupid I had heard out of my head.

don’t you have to graduate high school
Yes, but that doesn’t mean anything sometimes. Some schools push kids through whether they actually learn anything or not

Oh, okay.
I grew up thinking Americans had to graduate or some/certain further qualifications weren’t valid without it and that graduating wasn’t easy as so much pomp is made of it.

Graduating from highschool is easy, the pomp probably carries over from when most people didn’t graduate (think 100years ago)
